Southwark IAPT

Part of South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM), Southwark IAPT provides evidence-based talking therapies for patients experiencing common mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, panic attacks, obsessions and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Having partnered with Xyla Digital Therapies in March 2019, Southwark quickly became an important client. With a rising demand for talking therapies, we have helped them address and effectively manage their waitlists; since our partnership began, we’ve driven down the waiting time for patients to start therapy. This has most notably been the case for those seeking appointments outside of normal working hours, as we have sessions available 7am – 11pm, Monday to Sunday.

“When we first began, Xyla Digital Therapies provided the option of video therapy, and a wide range of evening and weekend appointments, which were very attractive offers for our patients.”

Head of Service, Southwark IAPT

Managing the waitlists and maximising patient choice were two of the main reasons Southwark IAPT chose to commission us. Partnering with us meant giving patients greater flexibility and choice – with their appointment times, the language they received their treatment and the communication method.

Since implementing Xyla Digital Therapies, Southwark has also explored the options to further strengthen their relationship with our service; our partnership now makes extensive use of our skilled clinical network as we deliver multiple treatment modalities, some of which are new to their offering.

Southwark IAPT has noted that our organisational level and our responsiveness to feedback are superior. We truly value this insight, as our goal is to be as receptive as possible, delivering a personalised service for each of our clients. This approach helps us to not only create but foster robust, collaborative partnerships with our clients.

To date, we are proud to publish that Southwark’s recovery rate exceeds national targets, sitting at 55.9%. In addition, the attendance rates have been consistently strong at an average of 80%, with only 7.9% marked as DNA.
